Its ideal location at the entrance to the calanques is the ideal starting point for taking advantage of the many places of interest in the region. Your days will be punctuated by visits to the Calanques de Piana, the discovery of hiking trails through the maquis with breathtaking views over the sea, boat trips or moments of idleness on the beaches of Arone or Ficaghjola.
Opened in 1912 by a developer from Ajaccio, the hotel was sold in 1925 to Corsotel, a subsidiary of the PLM chain. At that time, Corsica was just starting out in tourism, attracting a clientele of wealthy travellers. Life as a palace came to an end in 1965, when the hotel closed for around twenty years.
During this time, Mady Dalakupeyan, a native of Piana, started out as a chambermaid in Porto, then with her husband Daniel, they bought a hotel still in Porto, selling it in 1986 to buy the hotel Les Roches Rouges. It was a crazy gamble at the time, as the hotel had been closed for over 20 years and needed a lot of work.
But it has always been a dream for Mady, who, as a child, watched the beautiful clientele of the time come and go without being allowed to cross the threshold. A fine revenge on life.
Mady’s gamble paid off, and 38 years later she is still looking after Les Roches Rouges with the same passion, with a view to passing on the business to her 6 grandchildren…
With an uninterrupted view of the Gulf, whether you’re passing through or staying at the hotel, come and enjoy our furnished terraces at any time of day.
In the evening, they are undoubtedly the best place to admire the sunset falling into the turquoise sea and reviving the red of the calanques.
